Scholarship Award
Stout Scholars scholarship awarded to three new students 
Three first-year students have earned the Stout Scholars award for the fall at UW-Stout. The recipients are Benjamin LeMay, Chippewa Falls High School, Kalie Dahl, Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria, Minn., and Henry LeBlanc, Kohler High School. The Stout Scholars Scholarship is $5,000, renewable for up to four years, or a maximum of $20,000 for each student. Read more →
Career Services
Career-focused student work experiences receive more support 
Career Services at UW-Stout is expanding its efforts to serve more students and industry partners. To support a wider array of student experiences, Career Services has changed and renamed the Cooperative Education Program to the Cooperative Education and Internship Program. The co-op program had worked with students who were in paid positions related to their academic programs. CEIP will serve students who also are in unpaid and volunteer positions related to their field of study. Read more →
Virtual Experience
Summer in the Midwest provides cultural experiences
Gyujeong Lee, a senior majoring in visual design at Sangmyung University in South Korea, wanted to improve her English speaking skills and learn more about American culture. With the COVID-19 pandemic, Lee was unable to travel to the United States. Then she heard about the Summer in the Midwest program at UW-Stout going virtual this year. Summer in the Midwest, which has been held three years, is a cultural exchange that allows students from other countries to visit Menomonie and attend UW-Stout, take classes in oral communication and culture and learn about the area and meet residents. Dr. Ana Margarita “Cha” Guzman `69 is the recipient of the 2020 Women’s Leadership Award by the San Antonio Business Journal.

Randal Pickering `79 was named the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association Volunteer Chief of the Year. Pickering is the volunteer fire chief in Edgerton.

Levi Stodoal, MD `07 is a family medicine physician at Aspirus Doctors Clinic in Wisconsin Rapids.

Jenny Wojcik Zilka `14 welcomed a daughter on April 26, 2020.

Bluetober celebration - virtual events
It is with great excitement that we announce BLUEtober, a month-long spirit celebration. Throughout October, there will be a wide variety of virtual events for students and alumni to show their Stout pride and spirit.

Overview: Leading teams virtually can be very exciting and rewarding as well as successful. It can also be exhausting and create issues that you would not normally see in a face-to-face environment. This course is designed for all virtual leaders or those who are interested in exploring virtual leadership as an option for your organization.
